After two years at Columbia University as a Senior Research Associate, in 1980 she joined the Department of Otolaryngology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (now part of Northwell Health) where she began her studies of human papillomaviruses (HPVs) and their role in benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck. Those studies have been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 1983. She is the author or co-author of 99 peer-reviewed publications and 25 book chapters, most related to HPV.
