Position Summary The School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences is currently seeking a motivated candidate for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will design research studies in collaboration with physicians, life scientists, or other professionals, focused broadly on interactions between human papillomaviruses (HPVs) and host tissues. Specifically, the candidate should have working knowledge of proteomics and genomics methodology and analysis, molecular biology (including DNA cloning).

This position will be located within the Biosciences Research Laboratories Building (BSRL) located at 1230 N. Cherry Ave., Tucson, AZ 85719.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Training of junior members of the lab.
  • Primary cell culture.
  • Perform genomics and proteomics experiments aimed at understanding the pathogenicity of evolutionarily related Human Papillomaviruses.
  • Molecular biology, including DNA cloning.
  • Evolutionary analysis.
  • Analyze clinical or survey data using systems biology techniques to consolidate proteomics, genomics and transcriptomics data and construct interaction networks.
  • Draw conclusions and or make predictions based on data.
  • Write research reports and manuscripts, prepare materials for submission to external bodies including federal and non-federal granting agencies.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of single cell genomic approaches.
  • Knowledge and skills to participate in inventories and supplies requisition efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. (Evolution, Microbiology, Cellular Biology, or related field)
  • Minimum of 4 of experience in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
  • Prior experience performing scientific data collection and experiments, compiling data and writing project summaries.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in -omics or primary cell culture.
  • Evolutionary analysis
  • Single cell genomics
