Today, on International HPV Awareness Day, we are excited to announce the launch of a new podcast series from IPVS that delve into insights and strategies for effective HPV patient education and engagement.
The first episode in the series, “HPV Vaccine Hesitancy: Exploring Culture, Gender, and Trust in the Global Context”, addresses a pressing question: if HPV vaccination could prevent up to 500,000 deaths each year – including 350,000 women who die from cervical cancer – why does uptake remain so low?
In this compelling roundtable discussion, Dr. Linda Eckert, internationally recognized expert in immunizations and cervical cancer prevention and author of Enough! Because We Can Stop Cervical Cancer, is joined by Rasheed Abdulganiy, Imam and Professor of Islamic Studies at Gombé State University, Nigeria, Bernice Hausman, Cline Professor of Humanities in Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine and author of Anti/Vax: Reframing the Vaccination Controversy, and Dr. Noreen Zafar, obstetrician-gynecologist in Pakistan and founder of the Girls & Women’s Health Initiative. Together, they explore the complexities of vaccine hesitancy, the role of culture and trust, and strategies to improve communication and engagement worldwide.
