Lead, Secretariat, Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Coalition for HPV Elimination
Dr. Balkiss Abdelmoula leads the secretariat of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Coalition for HPV Elimination, a collaborative platform of over 500 members dedicated to advocating for widespread and equitable access to HPV vaccines and early cervical cancer detection in the MENA region.
A trained medical doctor from Tunisia, Dr. Abdelmoula specialises in Family Medicine and holds three master’s degrees in Environmental Public Health, Health Economics and Management, and Data Analytics and Biostatistics.
In addition to her role with the MENA Coalition, she serves as the Deputy Chair of the World Medical Association Junior Doctors’ Network (WMA-JDN) and is a member of the WHO Youth Council. She is also a member of the International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS) and acts as Tunisia’s ambassador to the organisation.
Currently, Dr. Abdelmoula is a Senior Associate at Global Health Strategies (GHS). Prior to this role, she was the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) officer at the Tunisian mission of the global humanitarian organisation Médecins du Monde, supporting a cooperation project with the Tunisian Ministry of Public Health to enhance the national COVID-19 response and immunisation programme.
As both a researcher and advocate for the right to the highest attainable standard of health in the pursuit of Universal Health Coverage, Dr. Abdelmoula is passionate about studying health systems and redesigning health policies based on evidence-based research. She also focuses on the “Genomics of signalopathies at the service of precision medicine” as part of the Research Laboratory LR23ES07 at Sfax University, Tunisia, since 2017.
With proficiency in five languages and a deep understanding of the principles of engagement between governments and non-state actors, Dr. Abdelmoula has actively participated in four World Health Assemblies (WHA)
