Andreia Albuquerque is a Gastroenterologist, with a PhD on “Anal squamous intraepithelial lesions”.

She initially worked in Centro Hospitalar S. João, Porto (Portugal), where she developed an Anal Neoplasia Clinic and has been involved in early anal cancer detection and anal cancer prevention since 2014. She then worked as a Researcher and Honorary Consultant at Homerton Anal Neoplasia Service, London and as a Senior Fellow in Inflammatory Bowel Disease St. James’s University Hospital, Leeds (UK).

She currently works as a Gastroenterologist in Portugal. She has served as a IANS Board of Directors Member and Co-chair of the IANS Spanish-Portuguese Task Force.

She has more than 70 papers published in peer-review journals, including 17 papers as first author on anal precancerous lesions, namely an invited review on the Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

She is a research member of iGO group from CINTESIS, University of Porto.
