Distinguished Research Professor of Pediatrics at UCLA, Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine

Dr. Moscicki is Distinguished Research Professor of Pediatrics at UCLA, Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine. Dr. Moscicki’s career has focused on adolescent gynecology and STI research with a specific focus in Human Papillomavirus, HIV infection and mucosal immunology. Dr. Moscicki was the PI of a natural history study of HPV in adolescents and young women that followed women for 25 years, one of the longest running HPV cohorts. Her work on the natural history included defining persistence and clearance, mucosal and systemic immune responses to HPV and the role of the microbiome and HPV clearance. She had served on numerous national and international committees, including the W.H.O., N.I.H., American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), and the American Cancer Society. She is the immediate Past President of ASCCP for 2017-18. Her work was highly influential in forming the new cervical cancer screening guidelines and triage of abnormal cytology in young women in the US. She is also involved in health outcomes in young adults living with perinatally HIV infection including sexual risk behaviors, substance use, oral health, vaginal microbiome, and HPV and has worked with numerous Networks on HIV disease in children and adolescents including Adolescent Medicine HIV/AIDS Research Network, Adolescent Therapeutic Network, IMPAACT and PHACS. She is the current President-Elect of IPVS.
