Mariano A. Molina, MSc, is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Cancer Center Amsterdam, specializing in the application of liquid biopsies for early detection and prevention of gynecological cancers.

He is originally from Panama, Central America, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from Universidad Latina de Panamá in 2017. He completed an MSc in Microbiology at Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and has conducted research projects in the United States and Canada.

He completed his PhD training at the Radboud University Medical Center on the association of the cervicovaginal microbiome (CVM) with HPV infections. His research focused on developing and validating a sequencing technology to profile the CVM at the species resolution, which has supported a deeper understanding of the relationship between HPV and the microbiome. These studies have been presented at multiple international conferences.

He is a member of several Microbiology societies, including ASM, FEMS, and ESCMID. He is also a member of the International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS) and the IPVS Early Career Working Group.
