Postdoctoral researcher at Stellenbosch University

Robyn Anne Adams is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, with a background in basic science. She completed her PhD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2024, focusing on secondary prevention strategies for cervical cancer, including policy, visual inspection screening, HPV DNA testing, and the development of DNA methylation-based triage methods to improve risk stratification, particularly in women living with HIV in South Africa. She also holds an MPhil in Cancer Science, where she investigated HPV genotypes using both conventional and next-generation sequencing techniques, and a BSc (Hons) in Physiological Science, with research experience in molecular diagnostics and inflammatory biomarkers.

Her current research centres on advancing cervical cancer prevention in high-burden, low-resource settings, particularly through HPV self-sampling and molecular triage tools. Robyn has contributed to multiple clinical studies as part of the Gynaecological Oncology Research Group at Stellenbosch University. She is actively involved in mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students and engages in community outreach and public education on HPV and cervical cancer prevention.

Driven by a strong sense of purpose, Robyn is committed to contributing toward the elimination of cervical cancer in South Africa, across Africa, and globally, combining translational research, community engagement, and collaborative science to make a lasting impact.
